Accident while removing wrecked truck: One dead, two injured

Baripada 9/5: Crashed truck while trying to remove it. The accident took place near Hatijhuri Chacha of National Highway No. 18 under Baishinga Police Station of Mayurbhanj District. An NH worker was killed when another speeding Innova car collided with him while trying to remove an accident truck from the road. Another NH employee and ASI of Beshinga police station were seriously injured.

It is worth noting that on Monday midnight, a truck bearing the number OD11Z1525 was hit by another truck on National Highway No. 18 and fled the scene. Traffic was blocked due to the accident truck standing in the middle of the road. Local police and NH officials reached the spot early on Tuesday and were trying to remove the truck from the road. All of a sudden, an Innova bearing number OD11C 0440 sped off from Baltimore and hit both the police and NH personnel.

As a result, one NHI driver died on the spot while another NH employee including Police ASI Pradeep Raut was rescued in a critical condition and taken to hospital. As the condition there is critical, it has been reported that they have been transferred to the main hospital in Baripada. It is believed that the accident happened because the driver of the Innova got blindfolded as it was early morning. Beshinga police have detained the Innova driver. Unpaid SDPO Sudharsan Das and Baishinga Police Station Officer Prabhanshu Shekhar Mishra reached the spot and started investigation.
